one-sided

Have you ever had a friendship that began as a give and take friendship and then became one-sided?

I’ve got one of those right now. Someone I considered a good friend knows next to nothing about my life & I know everyone about that person’s life. I’m not sure how it happened - although it’s been gradually getting to this point for a couple of years.

During the past month, I’ve probably spoken to this person for 10 hours and I’m not sure that they have any idea that I’ve been having a hard time with the whole “visitation & the XH & wondering if I was alienating the kids” thing. I tried to mention it, but the subject was quickly diverted back to the other person & whatever that person needed to talk about at the moment. This friend knows about DD & the diabetes diagnosis, but not much else about what’s going on in my life.

I’m not sure if I should just interrupt & blurt things out or just let things continue. It’s tiring.

  1. I’ve been thinking about this.. in fact, I came here today, just to comment.. girlfriend.

If you want to keep her in your life, I think you need to do this:

Call her, before she has time to get started, say, nicely, “I haven’t been able to tell you what’s been going on when we’ve talked recently, so hold on.. let me tell you before I forget”

    Maybe she’ll get a clue.

    If you want to.

    Love ya
