I got an email tonight, as all Blockbuster online customers probably did, informing me that my plan will be changing when the next billing cycle begins.

Currently, we get an unlimited amount of movies per month delivered 2 at a time through the mail with unlimited free exchanges in the store each month. Also, we get a coupon for a free game or movie rental each month.

The new plan for the same price will still send an unlimited amount of movies through the mail 2 at a time, but we can only exchange 3 per month for movies in the store. Additional movie rentals in the store will be $1.99 each. The email doesn’t say anything about the coupon we receive each month, so I’m not sure if that will continue or not.

Looks like Blockbuster may have been losing money on rentals with all the free exchanges of movie mailers for movies in the store.
