bringing in the new year

Now that the kids are older, they’re all about watching the ball drop as the new year begins. They like drinking apple juice in pretty glasses to toast each other. We usually stay home together. Throughout the evening, we work on a puzzle, play board games, have a movie going in the background, have snacks and things like that. Last year, we had my sister and her kids over and made a big to-do of it. I’m not sure what the plan is for this year yet.

What do you and your families do to bring in the new year?

  1. Our life is so exciting - just let me tell you! We are usually in bed by 10:00! We don’t even watch the events unfolding on tv! When the kids were younger we made a much bigger deal of it, but now that they’re all grown (and we’re older!) we don’t really do anything special at all! We - well, I always eat black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day! A tradition my Mom carried on and I do, too. No one else in the house eats them! Only me! Hope your New Year’s is great (and more fun than mine!)

  2. Hmmm… we used to do the ‘bricktown’ thing every year but we stopped several years ago. It’s fun there (if your young :o)
I guess we’ll stay home. I found a black eyed pea salsa crockpot dip recipe (that’s a mouthful huh?) and plan to make it. Gotta eat those peas, at least a spoonful anyway.
Hope your year is full of blessings~
