middle school kids stink like skunks

when they’re mean to my kid.
My 11 yr old (youngest) daughter said that some kids at school called her fat.  She’s not, at all.  She’s just right on the height/weight chart. She also says she has no good friends at school and that the kids are mean to her because she has diabetes.  [...]

old-fashioned math

When did the way I learned things in school become the “old-fashioned” way? I think it happened a few years ago, when the kids were in elementary school (I’m not talking about that tragic event right now), but I was reminded of it tonight. Again.
Son was working on math homework and asked for [...]

football!

Tonight it begins.
High school football, that is.
Tonight, 14 yr old daughter will play at her first high school football game. I’m so looking forward to seeing her! I have such good memories of playing in the band, marching, contests, practicing, the friendships that were formed and lessons learned.
Every Friday night that there’s a [...]

the ex and the underwear head guy

Today XH called to talk about when he could see the kids before he goes to school. He’s been off work for the past month. He said he’s leaving to drive to GA on Thursday & that he’ll just stop in to see the kids then. When I told him that I’m having surgery on [...]

Packing to move

has been an adventure and a learning experience for me.
My son has completely packed up his bedroom & is ready to move.
The girls are a different story. Their room looks like it’s been hit by a tornado. A BIG ONE! Tonight I spent an hour helping them sort thru things, get rid [...]

Oldest daughter has spoken

to me today. She’s acted like she doesn’t know anything about her ultimatum. I think she’s pre-teen hormonal. Not a good excuse, I know.. but I can’t think of anything else right now.

I just received a hand written note

from my oldest daughter. It says:
By the time you read this note, I will no longer speak to you until I get a cel phone. Leave me alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, she has since spoken to me b/c I told her to go take a shower.

I’ve just realized

that I didn’t have time to REALLY miss my kids when they were away at camp. I’m glad they’re back… I love them.. I wouldn’t trade them for anything… but I find myself wishing they had the entire summer with their dad. Foolish for me to even think about it, I know, [...]

Do you ever find yourself saying things

you never imagined you’d say? Things that sound so silly when you repeat them that you cannot believe those words came out of your mouth or that you had a reason to say them?
Here are some of the things I’ve said recently that are like that:
“No, Daughter, you cannot put pillows under Son’s [...]

countdown ticker / homeschool / cleaning up the house

Last night, I made a silly countdown ticker for how many days until school starts again. Just now, as I was forcing my kids to help me clean up the house & get things packed up for when we move later this summer, I was thinking of my sis who homeschools her children… the sis [...]
